Mandatory Equipment & Race Regulations

Please be sure to read the document below, as it contains all mandatory equipment requirements, weather kit information, and recommended gear. Mandatory equipment checks will take place at random and/or scheduled times before and during the event. Participants missing required equipment may receive a penalty, including disqualification.

The organizer may require a Hot Weather Kit or Cold Weather Kit based on race conditions. If implemented, all items in the designated weather kit must be carried for the entire race. Failure to carry all required items may result in a penalty, including disqualification.

The Race Regulations outline the rules and standards that help ensure a safe, fair, and enjoyable runner experience for all participants. The Grindstone Trail Running Festival by UTMB Event-Specific Addendum outlines event-specific rules, safety requirements, operational procedures, and permitting considerations unique to Grindstone. All participants, crew members, pacers, volunteers, and spectators are responsible for reviewing and complying with the Addendum, Runner Guide, and all official event communications. In the event of any conflict between documents, the Event-Specific Addendum shall supersede all other event documents unless otherwise directed by Race Management.
